What will we do with the information we collect?
We hope to use the information we collect to help evaluate any differences or similarities there might exist between what you the community think about urban forestry, and what the policy makers are proposing in relation to current urban forestry strategies. In short do the people making the decisions really represent what the people on the ground want for their local environment when it comes to trees?

As part of the evaluation we will be producing a report which should be completed in April 2006. We will add a link to this website when it is completed. Why has the Western Area of Hounslow been chosen for this project?
Some of the stages within the interactive questionnaire are map based. When we spoke to our project partners it was felt that the Western area of Hounslow would present a good study area (click here to see the study area map). It has the most potential in terms of existing different types of urban forestry treatment, as well as opportunities for new planting in the future*. The ‘Extra Info’ tab on the menu provides a more detailed background to this project and the other Urban Forestry projects that Groundwork Thames Valley have been involved with.

*Please note that this project will not be funding any actual physical tree panting. It is purely a research project that seeks to help make better-informed decisions in the future.
